Two different journeys, one shared community.
Whether you are new to Canada or a lifelong Kamloops resident, your story has value. The Senior-Newcomer Connection Project matches local seniors with newcomers for casual, meaningful friendships. It’s simple, safe, and deeply rewarding.
Your Journey in 4 Simple Steps
Step 1 – Tell us about yourself
Fill out a quick, 5-minute registration form (using the links below) to tell us what you love, whether it’s exploring local trails, attending community events, or just chatting over a cold drink in the park.
Step 2 – Screening & Your Perfect Match
To ensure a safe experience for everyone, all registered participants complete a standard Police Information Check (PCC). Don’t worry, we will guide you through this process step-by-step, and it is entirely free for volunteers. Once completed, our team carefully pairs you with a local friend based on shared interests, languages, or backgrounds.
Step 3 – The First “Hello” at our Welcoming Event!
Skip the awkward first introductions. We are kicking off the project with a special Welcoming Event this October! This will be a warm, comfortable space to celebrate the launch of the project, meet your match for the first time, and break the ice over light refreshments.
Step 4 – Shape Your Friendship
After the launch event, meet up with your new friend on your own schedule for at least one follow-up connection. To keep everyone safe, all meetings are strictly held in lively, public community spaces: you can take a stroll along the river, grab a coffee downtown, or meet virtually from home!
